Playing with my thing
It’s been nice to have a bit of a break over the hols. I’ve been playing with my new camera (EOS 20D) a bit, and am begining to find my way around it a bit more now. Digital is quite different to analogue (film) photography, and it’s interesting to learn new stuff.
The forums at DPReview have been interesting, but I get tired of people bitching about which cameras are better - Nikon or Canon.
Anyway, I read most of the manual when I got the camera, but now I’m a bit more familiar with the body, I’ve been going to bed and re-reading a few pages from it with the thing in my hand (the camera, that is) so I can work out what the manual is going on about.
Found a good article on the microsoft site (believe it or not) on image sharpening. It was written by quite a well respected chap actually, and looking through the other articles on the site I can see several more that are worth reading.
I think I need to get a new flash gun too. My old speedlite 200e doesn’t work with my EOS 20D, so I think that I will get a Metz 54 MZ-4. It seems fairly simple to use (only has two buttons
), and people report good things about it. I was planning on the Canon Speedlite 580EX, but this sounds to be rather unreliable.
Anyway, I’m getting happier with my new camera, so that’s good. It would have been a hell of an expensive brick otherwise! I have to think about getting a macro lens now the spring is on it’s way (it will be the EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro USM), and I rather fancy the Macro Twin Lite MT-24EX to go with it!
Right, too much camera chat - time for an early night!
