Handy Hayfever tip
My hayfever seemed to start quite early this year, so I needed to find a cheep way to get my hayfever under control. Going to the doctors to get a prescription is too much of a hassle, so my only real choice was to go to the chemists/pharmacists.
Anyway, there seem to be two types of hayfever pills: those based on Loratadine (such as Clarityn), and those based on Cetirizine Hydrochloride (such as Zirtek). I’ve always found that Clarityn works best for me, but these pills also cost the most. So if you go into Superdrug or boots, look on the back of the pills you find work for you and find out what’s in them. It will either be 10mg of Loratadine or Cetirizine Hydrochloride. So my tip is quite simple: take a look at the store’s own-brand hayfever pills, and see if they do pills with the same medication in the same amounts.
I’ve found Superdrug hayfever pills to be quite handy, as their pills seem to be the cheapest and if you buy one pack you get another one free. Even better! They do their own-brand pills in both Loratadine and Cetirizine Hydrochloride too, so you should be able to get the pill that works for you.
Note that I am not a doctor of medicine, nor do I have any related skills or qualifications. These are just my own findings, and I can’t guarantee that own-brand pills are as good/safe/tasty/lacking in nut traces as the more expensive brand-name pills. Take at your own risk!

She’s right. I buy my loratadine’s one from Boots own brand and they work just as well as the Clarityn ones…

I’ve been doing this for ages now and you are right in taking that approach when choosing medication. (I tend to do the same for all my medication that I buy off the shelf)
I buy the tesco, lidls, asda etc branded ones and they work just as well as the branded ones at a fraction of the cost.
(I just bought another box of each type today for 87p per box of 7tabs.)
I’m not sure which type works best for me really so I just take one of each per day, and more if I’m really taking strain:-)
I also find I live on Sudafed nasal spray (metered dose) to keep me clear. That stuff is brilliant, its the same as the Otrivan
spray but cheaper (15ml vs 10ml for a less)
I’m yet to find a decent cheaper equivalent store branded one.
