Technoranki Peer Group
Creating a technoranki peer group
I think I’ve always been quite open about the fact that technoranki is experimental, and that there will be bugs and glitches with it from time to time. I’ve also been totally against explaining how the algorithm works in detail in order to prevent people cheating and abusing the system. I understand this can cause frustrations for people who want to understand why their blog has a certain rank and why another blog is better than theirs, but I still think it is for the best.
And while nobody has yet said to me that it seems a bit odd that it is only me that decides what makes a good blog and what makes a bad blog, I do think this aspect of technoranki is a bit unfair.
So, while I am still not prepared to divulge the secrets of the technoranki algorithm in public, I think it would be both fair and sensible to create a group of ‘peers’ who can work together to decide on these controlling factors, and together improve the underlying formula.
Join the Peer Group
I’m after about three people to join this technoranki peer group. We will work together to decide on the factors that make a good blog and what make a bad blog, and how these factors can be identified automatically. You won’t be expected to write any code so don’t worry if you’re not technical.
It is OK to nominate yourself to be in this peer group, but your nomination must be seconded by a different person. You must also take part in technoranki, with correctly installed tracking code.
To nominate or second a nomination, please leave a comment below.
I’d like to get this peer group up and running as soon as possible, so nominations will close in a few weeks (providing we’ve had enough). If we get more than three nominations, I’ll run a poll or something. If you have any queries, please do get in touch with me by email.

By the way, if you have ideas about what makes a good blog but don’t have the time to get involved in the peer group, please leave your thoughts and ideas on What makes a good blog? Thanks!

I’d like to be considered for involvement! (I’d need someone to second my nomination).

Mark, how did this progress - and what’s the status of the group?
Cheers,
