4×4 Drivers: Bullied at school or just little dic*s?
I don’t know what it is with 4×4 drivers, but why are most of them such aggressive drivers? I’ve ranted in the past about Ford Focus drivers, but must now confess that they’re not all that bad. My annoyance is now directed at 4×4 drivers instead.
I should point out that it’s not all 4×4 drivers. Most Land Rover drivers (as in Series 3, 90s or Defenders) amiable folk when you encounter them. But where I live (in the suburbs of London), the roads in the morning are totally clogged up with these idiots in their massive vehicles, taking their precious little dears to school.
I don’t have a problem with this notion per se, but I don’t understand why the kiddies have to be transported in such stupidly large vehicles! And why is there only ever one child in the car? With a car that size the mums could easily get four other children in the car with them. If they were to do this then maybe it wouldn’t be so bad.
But my issue del jour is these people that think they can barge across lanes of traffic, clog up roads, and generally be impolite road users. I know other car drivers do this too but, if you know anything about momentum, you’re not going to come off as bad if you have an accident with one of these.
All I can conclude is that these drivers were either:
- bullied at school
- have small dicks
- hate men
Of course without doing a real survey we’ll never really know the answer, but I have to say I’m rather warming to the idea of increased taxes on people that drive these things in built up areas…

I’m glad I don’t live round your area, Mark, I have a Freelander and had a Focus Estate prior to that
But all is not so bad, I walk my son to school.
My excuse for having one is I drive across a moor over the Pennines (on a road) to get to the office, and it’s treacherous when the bad weather kicks in.
I don’t agree that the taxes are fair. Middle managers/salespeople with their bmws and mid-range saloons thundering up and down the motorways on a daily basis are a bigger cause of pollution.

p.s. it’s not small ;P

Hehhe, I don’t think we’ll ever see eye to eye on the car front mate! Having said that, sounds like you have a better excuse than most of the people ’round here. The traffic is a nightmare at the best of times without all these twits clogging up the roads.
I think the fairest tax is based on mileage, though larger and heavier vehicles should be taxed more as they (a) cause more congestion, and (b) have a greater impact on the environment and roads.
Glad to hear you walk your son to school — that’s got to be far more fun than driving!
p.s. No comment…

The school’s about 15m away so i’d be a bit silly to drive! It would probably take longer to get the car out of the drive on to the road than it does to walk!

Ah, that’s a good point….
I used to walk a mile or so to school when I was younger — it was great fun (especially in concor season and the snow).
After that it was the bus and/or train. The journey was the best part of the day normally: I can’t understand why kids want to go in the car these days!
